Mdi Air Car, $10000 more in the us?

I came across an interesting thing with the price of MDI'S new air car. It looks like it is going to cost around $10000 more to purchase this bad boy in the states than overseas. Interesting.
In this recent article on MDI Internationals' site they spoke of a price at €3500. With a quick paste to google it will convert it for us.(a handy feature) You can see this equals "5107.55 $". Awesome right? Well at least for Europeans.
ZPM the current lead manufacturer for the US market displays the price at $17800. Bummer.
There are several factors that would bring it up in the states:
- US Regulations.
- State laws
- Safety Tests
But still, is that enough to jack it up more than 10k? Maybe?
I just don't know.
So is the price right? Well for right now I am not sure. When I do find or you have some info let me know and I'll post an update.
